A bag begins long before the workshop.
It begins in a tannery, where skin becomes leather, and where everything the hand will later feel is decided.
Two houses, one standard
Fleuron's calf leather comes from two European tanneries, chosen for the quality of their hides and the rigour of their practices.
In Catalonia, in Igualada, the Badia tannery crafts Mozart leather, a full grain calf of remarkable suppleness, with a fine and even grain.
In Tuscany, in Santa Croce sull'Arno, at the heart of Italy's historic leather district, the Camaleonte tannery has been working hides since 1937. Founded by two craftsmen and handed down through generations, it combines inherited gestures with today's tools.
Two crafts, two regions, one standard. Every Fleuron bag, whatever its model, is made from one or the other of these leathers, selected according to the same criteria.
Two certified tanneries
Both of our tanneries are certified by the Leather Working Group, which independently assesses how a tannery manages its impact, from water management to the traceability of hides. A certification that is never permanent and must be earned again at every audit. Discover what a certified tannery guarantees.
Why this choice
The choice of a tannery cannot be seen at first glance. It reveals itself over time: in the way a bag holds its shape after years, in the patina that forms, in a leather that ages without deteriorating.
Choosing certified tanneries also means knowing where the material comes from and how it has been worked. For a Maison that holds no sales and no promotions, it is a matter of consistency: a fair price is defended first by the material.
